my baby got TOOFY!!

My little one is nearly five months old.  I have been thinking of introducing solids for a few weeks, I went and bought a travel food container and spoon.  I bought heaps of baby food from the supermarket - pouches and jars, I figured I may as well find out what G likes before I waste my time making it (have I mentioned that I have returned to work already!!).  So because my baby is in the above average percentile, I have been a bit hesitant to start her off on solids in a hurry. Plus I haven't bought a high chair yet.

Soooo, a couple of weeks ago we thought she was teething, her cheeks were really red and she was drooling heaps and munching on her fingers  - we even got the doctor to check to see if he could see any teeth breaking through (he couldn't).  And I thought she was a bit young anyway. In the last week she seemed fine, an Angel in fact is how I would describe her, and I totally forgot about checking for teeth.  And then I had to go to work on Monday and I rang her daycare at lunch to see how she was going and they said good..and did you know she has cut TWO teeth!!! TWO! In my defence even when I picked her up I couldn't tell, but I could feel them :-), only two days later I have been able to get a good glimpse of them - and she is still an angel - so full of love for my little munchkin.  I feel like I should be upset that the daycare were the first to spot it ( a fear of mine that they get to see all her milestones not me - even though she is only in two days a week), but I honestly think I probably would still not have noticed (she has been good and I thought she was still to young!!).

Now that she has actual teeth, I guess I better get onto that solid feeding caper, I am off to buy a highchair tomorrow and we are beginning!  Such exciting times ahead.  Oh yeah, one more thing.  I only have one bib - a personalised one I bought from Ebay ages ago.  We use her wraps to clean up spew etc. Inspired by the upcoming solids feeding, I bought another one from Ebay, me thinks that I am still going to be needing more than two bibs....

swing me swing me

Baby G is nearly 5 months old and I thought it was time to get her a playset with a baby swing. After shopping around it seemed like Bunnings had the best playsets.  And they had SO many playsets, really elaborate ones with climbing ropes and steering wheels and little trampolines and slippery slides lol.  Which will be fantastic when she is a little older, but for now we just want the basic swing set.  It was $89 for two swings and a seesaw, or $69 for just two swings.  I decided to get the two swings and seesaw as little one has two cousins that visit often and would love the seesaw.  It was my lucky day because when we went to bunnings I ended up getting the three piece playset for the $69 price whoo hoo.  AND it was amazing quality, we are absolutely happy with our purchase.  Oh and it was an extra $25 for the baby swing:www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_blue-baby-swing-seat-playground-component_5160.aspx.  Baby loves her new swing!  She is growing up sooo fast.

bloomers, onesies and princess singlets

While most people in Australia are rugging up there bubs because it is coming into Winter, we live in the tropics so I am still yet to put G's winter clothes on her! At this rate she is going to grow out of them before she gets to wear them, the little girl who gets her hand me downs will be in such luck :-).  I got on Etsy again and bought some more handmade things and then got on Ebay for good measure, I love that you can get pretty monogrammed and name specific things!  These were my latest Little G purchases.  The onsies are mainly because her daddy only wants to dress her in onsies!  Apparently they are more comfortable according to daddy, thats okay we just will get a few onsies to cover the days daddy dresses his little girl (in case your wondering, head bands are definitely out for daddy!).  So I bought the two  onsies from Ebay - both featuring little G's name, sooo cute!  They were nearly $20 each so they were not exactly a bargain but I think they are worth the $$

I got from Etsy a monogrammed pair of bloomer and a princess fairy singlet.  One of the things I really like about Etsy is that when you buy something you are funding someones dream to do what they love to make money, there is so much creativity and beautiful handmade products on Etsy.  Both these were about $12/13 not including shipping costs.  I think both were about $5 postage cost.

new pram liner and car seat

When I first bought the baby capsule and the pram, I found two websites that did car seat liners and pram liners.  Because I didn't know if I was having a girl or a boy I chose to get gender neutral black and white spots.  Now we have moved Little G out of the capsule into a proper car seat (still rear facing of course) and the pram liner still is fine but I want a girly one :-).  I think I made bit of a mistake with the car seat though, I was planning to research it thoroughly but we went into Babies R Us and I bought one straight away lol.  It was on sale for $199 and just looked so safe! http://www.toysrus.com.au/go-safe-sports-convertible-car-seat/w1/i1670772/. So then I got on to order the car seat liner, and they don't do ones for this car seat :-(.  The internal wings make it very complicated, which is fair enough but arrrgh.   I think this is really going to annoy me when bub starts eating and things start dropping on it.  darn it!  So I couldn't get a car liner, but I did pick out this new pram liner - it takes about a month for the seller to handmade and send to me, but its worth it.

Baby fashionista :-)

Before G was born we didn't know if we were expecting a baby boy or girl. This was fine up until the last two weeks of pregnancy when I was in a mad nesting mood and was desperate to decorate the nursery (still not finished now!) and to buy cutesy boy or girls clothes.  Two days after she was born I went and bout a million baby girls clothes - pink pink pink! Fast forward to four months later and my little chubba had been in 00 for a month already and I have two space bags packed away full of her 0000 and 000 clothes, she has SO many clothes, its insane.  It doesn't help that Target have had some huge sales of cute clothes and it doesn't help that her Nan Nan returns from Bali with a suitcase of baby girls clothes as featured in this post :-).  Refinery29 have had some awesome blogs lately, and being very apt for Mothers day tomorrow they have done an awesome one featuring cute mummy styles:http://www.refinery29.com/cute-mom-style.  I can't wait to blog about my awesome Mothers day present (I got it early).

Head banging headbands :-)

I love putting headbands on baby G! However I have learnt my lesson in what type to buy and now only get the crochet wide headbands, the others were squashing her poor head. I felt very neglectful taking her cute headband off after an outing and there was a red indentation on her head! But crochet headbands don't do that yay :-). I'm a shopping ban and I've done so well, the only time I have slipped in a month is to buy two headbands (leopard print and number B) from EBay and a pack of two bloomers.

I use disposable nappies and it's still quite warm where I live (will I get to use the two coats I bought G before she grows out of them eeek!), so I put bloomers over her nappies. I actually find it quite hard to find nice bloomers in the shops so EBay it is. I also have my eye on monogrammed pair of bloomers on Etsy.

Stop making cute baby girl clothes!

Seriously baby girl clothes are SO flippen adorable. Baby G already has more clothes than me and she is not even in sizing O yet! I recently discovered Etsy (where I got the baby room wall decals from), there are some awesome quirky baby clothes on Etsy, these are a few of my favourites:

I could waste days going through Etsy, it's awesome!

G and I have successfully survived the newborn period, I relied heavily on books and online information for advice during that time and it really worked out for us. Now we are heading to 5mths+ I'm finding it hard to get books that I find useful (apart from Wonder Weeks), at the moment I'm relying heavily on the Huggies website and www.raisingchildren.net.au. We are starting to do cool stuff like Incy Wincy Spider and I am able to play with her and get her to laugh! A magical time <3
